Jonesing to Keep Up

See how your income and net worth compare with your fellow Canadians.

How it works

Enter your province, age, gender, education, income, and net worth. Jonesing to Keep Up compares your figures against real Statistics Canada data and shows where you rank among comparable Canadians, plus a projection of when you could reach financial independence.

Income comparisons use the 2021 Census (total income). Net worth comparisons use the Survey of Financial Security 2023, measured at the family level by province and age. Income figures are a hybrid estimate and net-worth percentiles above the 90th are extrapolated, so treat the numbers as informative estimates rather than exact rankings.

Frequently asked questions

How does my income compare to other people in my province in Canada?
Enter your province, age, gender, and education and Jonesing to Keep Up shows where your income sits relative to comparable Canadians, using Statistics Canada 2021 Census income data.
Where does the net worth comparison data come from?
Net worth comparisons use Statistics Canada's Survey of Financial Security 2023. Net worth is measured at the family level by province and age; it is not broken down by gender or education, so changing those inputs does not change the net worth comparison.
Is my financial information kept private?
Yes. Every calculation happens locally in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to a server, stored, or shared — there is no account and no tracking of your figures.
Is this financial advice?
No. Jonesing to Keep Up is for educational and informational purposes only. The comparisons are estimates based on public data and do not constitute financial advice or an endorsement by Statistics Canada.
